Why we tested it
RGBW spotlights sit at the intersection of photography lighting and video lighting: they need studio-grade output, film-accurate color and quiet operation. The NanLite FS-300C promises all three at a mid-range price, so we put it through our standard lab battery.
Lab results
With the standard reflector at 1m we measured 48,850 lux at 5600K and an impressive 22,740 lux in green RGB output — among the best figures in this class. CRI averaged 95 with TLCI 94 and TM-30 Rf 92 / Rg 100, meaning both skin tones and product colors render accurately.
Color coverage is the headline feature: a full RGBW engine with 36,000 adjustable colors in HSI mode, plus CCT 2700-7500K with G/M ±150 fine tuning for matching ambient light.
Cooling and noise
The four-mode fan system is excellent. In Auto mode the FS-300C sits around 24 dB(A) — barely audible in a quiet room and perfectly safe for interviews and dialogue recording. Output drops to 50% in Low mode and 15% with the fan off, which is a fair trade.
Build and usability
The integrated body, controller and power supply mean a single cable from wall to light — genuinely refreshing on set. At 3.23kg it is easy to reposition, and the dual-knob + MODE button layout is fast to learn. The NANLINK APP adds presets, scenes and group control over Bluetooth/2.4G, which is a real workflow boost for multi-light setups.
Who should buy it
Buy the FS-300C if you shoot portraits, interviews, product work or live streams and want a single versatile key light that covers white, color and effects. Skip it if you only need a pure daylight key light — a simpler bi-color fixture saves money. Also confirm your softboxes use the Bowens-S mount before committing to the ecosystem.
